Farris Auto did an excellent job helping me to upgrade to a newer Subaru. I found a car on their lot not quite ready for sale. They had it ready for me in under a week with a ton of work and cleaning done to it. I felt confident buying the car after seeing how much pride they take in their vehicles, both cosmetic and mechanical. Shawn got me preapproved for a loan with my preferred bank in under 10 minutes. This is a small dealership that appears to specialize in foreign cars such as Toyota and Subaru. I made the ten-hour round trip to come purchase from them because they had the specific year and model car with the trim level I was looking for and had it for a fair price. Obviously for me, this was more about the specific car, but having said that, they appear to have done a fine job reconditioning the car. Added benefits are that they do not charge any fees, and do a good job with making the car buying experience a simple process. John and his staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and Shawn was very responsive and helpful in coordinating the deal, which was a little more difficult due to my geographic distance. The only drawback was their weekend hours being limited to a half-day on Saturdays, which made it necessary for me to take off work to drive out on a weekday, but being that they are a small lot, their hours are understandable. The warranty is nice and inspires confidence.

They didn't have what I was looking for, but offered to make a bid on one at an auction for me. To make a very long story short, I declined. Later on, however, I did find what I was looking for on my own and took it to the shop for an inspection to know what I might be inheriting and to have better leverage negotiating a price with the seller. Not only did Farris inspect the car the very same day I called to make an appointment, but they didn't charge me a dime for the inspection. I live in Madison and know of several reliable mechanics -- particularly for Subarus -- but I'll gladly drive out to Farris in Cottage Grove because the guys there are really great and trustworthy. I'd recommend them to anybody.

Impossible to find a more honest couple of guys. They're hard-working, thorough and knowledgeable. In the world of mechanics and used car dealers, it's hard to find somebody with integrity. These guys have it in spades. Always a pleasure to work with them.

The Farris brothers are wonderful to work with! I requested a specific vehicle, and they delivered. They communicated well on multiple cars that might fit my needs until they found exactly what I was looking for.
